"My early childhood was lived in Poland at the height of its political art movement in which

both my parents were active. Since moving in the mid 80s to Denmark - the West, as a serial-migrant my curiosity blended well with a voyeuristic survival skill, a constant search for the inbetweeness,  hidden distinctive gestures in languages.

My father Antoni Szram, a city conservator since the 70s, established the City Museum of Lodz and the Polish Museum of Cinematography, and was the main driving force and architect behind the city's cultural program since, throughout the political upheaval, the 19th century jewish palaces and their fabric factories where my playing grounds as these where restored and turned into museums.

My mother Iwanka P. Andersen, an art conservator, artist and icon painter, has been my mentor throughout and I followed her in her work, into the offices and the studios of the geologists, archeologists, palaeontologists, art historians and artists whom she collaborated with. I was surrounded by ice-cores from the depths of Greenland, drenched books from the flooded Prague's Baroque library, Viking "treasures", Orthodox Icons - art was never just pleasure.

A political upbringing, immigration and a life on an organic farm in my 20s and 30s, in the UK, informs my practice."
